Grand Forks, the land of baseball and beer-fueled shenanigans. This past week, your beloved Diamondbacks descended upon the diamond, ready to make some noise both on and off the field. As usual we crushed more cans than home runs.
We kicked off the tournament undefeated in the round robin (3-0), backed by an offense hotter than a mid-July heatwave. The fellas posted a sizzling .366 batting average and a .470 on-base percentage, although oddly enough, not a single homerun.
The baseball gods decided enough was enough and struck down both top seeds in the semi-finals. Our showdown with @FinsBsbl turned out to be more of a washout than a slugfest. With our bats finally cooling off, the Fins handed us a brutal 16-3 whooping. A disappointing end to an otherwise spectacular week of baseball.
As always, the true MVP of the weekend was the right field beer garden. Honorable mention goes out to the Edmontonians, who performed on and off the field all week, despite the devastating oil spill in Florida this past week.
Big thanks to everyone who joined and made this our best GFI yet.
See Ya Next Year GF!
